Purpose of the Role

To provide professional, visible security services in line with PSIRA regulations and SecureOne’s operational standards. The Grade C Guard is responsible for access control, perimeter and internal patrols, asset protection, incident reporting and basic emergency response at assigned sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct access control: verify identification, search vehicles/persons/packages as required, and control entry/exit of people and vehicles.
• Perform regular foot and/or vehicle patrols of the premises, perimeter and designated areas.
• Monitor and report suspicious activity, security breaches, incidents or potential risks immediately to the supervisor/control room.
• Complete accurate occurrence book (OB) entries, shift handover reports and incident reports.
• Respond to alarms, emergencies and basic first-response situations in accordance with site procedures and emergency protocols.
• Enforce site rules, health & safety requirements and company policies.
• Provide professional customer service and act as a visible deterrent.
• Safeguard company and client assets, cargo-related areas and property.
• Maintain a high standard of personal appearance, discipline and professionalism at all times.
• Perform any other reasonable security-related duties as instructed by management.

Minimum Requirements (Mandatory)

• Valid and current PSIRA Grade C registration (must be active and verifiable on the PSIRA database).
• South African citizen or permanent resident with valid South African Identity Document.
• Clear criminal record (no convictions for scheduled offences under the Private Security Industry Regulation Act).
• Minimum Grade 10 (Grade 12 / Matric strongly preferred).
• Physically fit and able to perform patrols, standing duties and physical security tasks for the full shift.
• Able to work rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, public holidays and overtime as required.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English (additional South African languages advantageous).
• Reliable, honest, punctual, disciplined and presentable.
• Must be prepared to undergo company induction, site-specific training, medical assessment and periodic criminal/background checks.

Preferred / Advantageous

• Previous experience as a Grade C Security Officer (preferably industrial, logistics or commercial sites).
• Valid driver’s licence (Code B or higher) and own reliable transport.
• First Aid Level 1 or Fire Fighting certificate.
• Experience in access control or cargo/logistics environments.

Working Conditions

• Shift work (typically 12-hour shifts – day/night rotation).

Remuneration

Market-related and in accordance with the National Bargaining Council for the Private Security Sector (NBCPSS) minimum wages for Grade C applicable to the relevant area. Night-shift and other statutory allowances will apply where relevant.
